Results of Environmental Action Plan 2005 and Self-Evaluation
Based on the results of the Environmental Action Plan 2005, which was started in FY-2005, every division evaluates and improves its activities so that successful divisions can maintain their improvements, and less-than-successful divisions can implement more efficient measures. The Environmental Action Plan 2005 is designed for Daiwa House Industry, Daiwa Resort and Royal Home Center.

Standards for Self-Evaluation

Three different facial expressions are used to categorize achievements in our environmental action plans.

  • very good icon

Improved since FY-2004, and target has been achieved.

  • good icon

Improved since FY-2004, but target has not been achieved.

  • not good icon

Deteriorated since FY-2004, and target has not been achieved.

. Why we use basic units for targets

Daiwa House Industry uses sales amounts as a basic unit to decide numerical targets for environmental action plans. Because the environmental impact generally increases as the sales amount increases, it is hard to measure improvement with the total quantity. So basic units are applied to manage improvement accurately and set targets. In FY-2005, sales amounts were 1,138.461 billion yen (non-consolidated financial statements).

. The actual numbers in FY-2004 are different from the ones in the CSR Report 2005 because: 1. target areas for management were modified, 2. conversion factors for CO2 emissions, etc. have been updated, and 3. denominators of the toxic output basic unit (factories' sales costs) were derived from a modified baseline.
