Handling of Personal Information

The Daiwa House Industry ("the Company") fully recognizes the importance of protecting personal information. The proper use and protection of personal information not only forms the basis of our business activities, but also represents key areas of our social responsibility. Therefore, to better ensure the trust of our stakeholders, the Company will comply with the following policy.

The Company receives the following personal information through the course of offering products or services by the Daiwa House Group (the Company and its group companies*), as well as through publicly available media such as real estate registries.

(2) Purpose of Use of Personal Information

Personal information is used for the following purposes.

  1. Execute contracts and agreements, provide after-sales services.
  2. Respond to customer inquiries and requests for reference materials.
  3. Provide information about the business, products and services offered by the Daiwa House Group or its business partners and affiliates.
  4. Provide notice about the events, campaigns and other activities organized by the Daiwa House Group.
  5. Conduct market research and development of new products and services.
  6. Distribute advertisements according to subjects' interests and preferences based on the results of analyzing information, such as web browsing history or purchase history. The Company may provide personal information to a third party for this purpose.
  7. Prevent and take care of fraud, etc.
  8. Respond to investigation and inquiry by the public agency, as well as audits.
  9. Use for any other matters incidental and related to the businesses of the Daiwa House Group.

It should be noted that the Company may provide personal information externally to contractors to the extent necessary to ensure smooth performance of the business operations it outsources to these contractors. In this case, the Company will enter agreements with these contractors regarding the handling of the said information and implement other measures to supervise them.

The Company may provide personal information to a third party such as under the legal basis, or to achieve the purpose as that previously stated in 1. Purpose of Use of Personal Information. In other cases, the Company will not provide personal information to a third party.

4. Disclosing, Correcting, Erasing, or Suspending the Use, etc. of Personal Information

Requests to disclose, correct, erase, or suspend the use, etc. of personal information and inquiries about personal information will be accepted in accordance with the following contact and procedures. However, some requests and inquiries, such as those that are not required legally, and that are about personal information which the Company shall maintain under the laws and regulations, may not be responded to.

(2) Confirming the Identity of those who request or inquire

In order to confirm the identity, the following procedures will be taken; the presentation of identification documents such as driver's license, passport and health insurance card, the announcement of information to identify, such as address, name, telephone number and date of birth, or calling the telephone number which is registered with the Company.
When a proxy submits a request, in addition to confirming the identity of the subjects as described above, the capacity of proxy will be confirmed by power of attorney, certificate of seal-impression, or other means. The request will not be accepted unless confirming the identity of a proxy.

(3) Fee

A prescribed fee may be charged to process a request to disclose personal information.

Handling of Personal Information of Shareholders

1. Policy for Protecting the Personal Information of Shareholders

The Company receives and uses the information of shareholders such as names, addresses, registered seals for shares, and telephone numbers to ensure the ability of shareholders to exercise their rights under the Companies Act, ensure the Company's performance of its obligations under the Companies Act and other related laws and regulations, and ensure the smooth performance the Company's business operations.
The Company will properly handle the information of shareholders in compliance with the Act on the Protection of Personal Information, the Companies Act, and other related laws and regulations in accordance with the same policy as that of "Handling of Personal Informatio" described above.

2. Purpose of Use of the Information of Shareholders

The Company obtains the information of shareholders directly or through the shareholder registry administrator on occasions such as the transfer of stock. This personal information is used for the following purposes.

Inquiries about entries in the shareholder registry and other matters related to general administration of stock are handled by Sumitomo Mitsui Trust Bank, Limited, which is the shareholder registry administrator of the Company. Contact the office listed below for inquiries about the information of shareholders.
Please note that the information of shareholders the Company receives in accordance with related laws and regulations cannot be deleted, even if a request is made to delete this information. In addition, please be aware that depending on the request you may be required to submit a notice of change or other documents.
